The name Mäpt ánjo-dnæ̈ is derived from the Gnollish language, as Mäpt ánjo-dnæ̈ was founded by Sedril vyim Yuvnofilf, who was culturaly Gnollish.

Climate

Mäpt ánjo-dnæ̈ has a yearly average temperature of -4°C (25°F), with its average temperature during the summer being an icy 24°C (75°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold -33°C (-27°F). Mäpt ánjo-dnæ̈ receives an average of 96 cm/y (37 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Mäpt ánjo-dnæ̈ covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 5096 m (16719 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Mäpt ánjo-dnæ̈ was founded durring the late 13th century in summer of the year 1197, by Sedril vyim Yuvnofilf. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Sedril vyim Yuvnofilf.

Mäpt ánjo-dnæ̈ was built using the conventions of Gnollish durring the late 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Mäpt ánjo-dnæ̈ is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature masoned stone construction which prominantly features pointed arches, pointed ribbed vault cielings, flying buttress', and window tracery all of which share a simmilar gemoetetic patern halfway between organic and inorganic in design formaing a very distinct aesthetically integrated style. BUildings tend to reach for the havens, and more expencive homes are easily identified by their floor count as well as the addition of decorative features intigrated into the building's design such as statues, gargoyals, and embelished joinery.

Mäpt ánjo-dnæ̈ is buildings are arranged arround a network of spacious worn bedrock streets which form a diamond shaped grid, where each diamond verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller diamond has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town posesses a fortified albit thin wall of querried stone. This wall posesses most of the features of a castle wall, though it is constructed from cheeper inferior stone. It would pose a minor chalange for an attacking army, though it's clear the wall's true purpose is to crush the hopes of bandits and marauders. The town's failry decent fortifications are visibly old, but also obviously well maintained. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with routine mantance of the town's defences.

Mäpt ánjo-dnæ̈ seems to be abandoned at first. There are people present, working their trades and going about their business like any community, it’s just they are absurdly quiet. Just as you start to think there might be trouble, you see most of them are reading. The entire town feels like a library, with those not reading remaining quite to not disturb those who have their nose in a book. The longer you remain in Mäpt ánjo-dnæ̈ the more you start to wonder if you’ve entered some strange open-concept University rather than a town, but you can’t quite say such with certainty.

Mäpt ánjo-dnæ̈ possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Mäpt ánjo-dnæ̈'s grid is powered by an arcane means.

Mäpt ánjo-dnæ̈'s old civil lighting system was converted to Galvanic Lamps recently, and expanded to provide nighttime illumination to all city streets.

Cultural Notes

Mäpt ánjo-dnæ̈'s bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by their massive, monolithic and 'blocky' appearance with a rigid geometric style. It was best known for its rough, unfinished surfaces, unusual shapes, heavy-looking materials, straight lines, and small windows. Modular elements were often used to form masses representing specific functional zones, grouped into a unified whole.

The Hoar Spirit near Mäpt ánjo-dnæ̈ are known to be more aggressive than normal.

Mäpt ánjo-dnæ̈'s citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves consuming a local toxin to channel Summoning energies of tier 2 via recitation of scripture.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century several years of heavy rains culminated in a peculiar disaster. A great hole opened up beneath Mäpt ánjo-dnæ̈, swallowing large sections of the community. Mäpt ánjo-dnæ̈ lost 148 people, 111 livestock, and 61 buildings in the disaster. This disaster is often refereed to as The Horror Swallowing.
